StaffPete Owner Pete Roberts was an apprenticed Mechanical Engineering Technician spending the next 20 years working in engineering, including 5 years as an instructor teaching engineering. Wheelbuilding skills were learned by the infamous Ken Bird, a former tour mechanic. Pete gained pro team mechanic experience himself, with the Linda McCartney Team. Pete has been a lifelong cyclist, riding road races and time trials before specializing in shorter time trials - and winning a few along the way ( usually when the good guys weren't about!).
James
James has been a lifelong cyclist, mainly on mountain bikes but also road race and time trial achieving moderate success. He reckons he could have done better but due to his sense of fair play he would often let someone else win! Hmmmm!!! James is a qualified massage therapist and has worked for the GB team, he lived in Chamonix for 4 years skiing climbing and cycling as well as spending far too long in local bars. Working at In-Gear for short periods he was finally "Head hunted"; the vast salary finally nailed him to a full time position. James is the short hairy bloke usually to be found in the workshop [only accepts tips in pastry or hop-based goods]. Steve
Our "skinny" Saturday assistant says working at "In-Gear is like Pavarotti working in a sweet shop"! Steve has worked at the shop for 3 years and still looks forward to seeing all the new goodies that have arrived. Steve rides for pleasure and does the occasional sportif in France. Alfie Alfie - The most versatile member of staff equally at home in the office, at the counter or in the workshop.
